There is nothing to do in Banstead, it’s boring!

boredomThat’s true, so it seems. Now, Banstead appears to be a nice place however each Friday evening when I travel through the high street along to the car park at The Horseshoe in time to teach the 7pm TaeKwon-Do class I see various groups and individuals that look bored. A quick trawl of the internet and social sites tells me that certain groups of people feel completely bored in Banstead, Surrey.

So, what is ‘boredom’? Well, apparently no-one really knows what boredom is except that it has been defined by ‘scientists’, yep really it has. When there is a low level of the dopamine chemical in your brain, then you are bored. Well, it’s not quite that simple (so I am told) but if you have a naturally lower level of this chemical in your brain then you are more prone to feeling bored and that you might need ever increasing excitement to stimulate your brain.

All that aside we know what it feels like to be bored, we’ve all experienced that at some time and it’s hard to pinpoint exactly why or what is making us feel bored. I know when I used to have no goals in my sights or nothing I particularly wanted to achieve by a certain date then I would put of doing necessary things and this would contribute to feeling bored.

It’s certainly a long way from the end of the world but feeling bored might impact on what you can reap from life. Having strict goals and working towards those goals in small steps is a great way to keep active, keep yourself entertained, gain knowledge and skills, and generally get out of that rut.

The Cure – ha ha ha
bored-cureI do have a cure for boredom actually and that’s TaeKwon-Do Martial Arts and Self Defence.

At it’s heart is a structure learning environment to ensure that people can always set their sights on achievable goals and people love this, they suddenly find that they are able to learn new things fast. It is a modern martial art where people learn to use their body to it’s fullest.

Learn to become master’s of movement and generate huge power.

Learn to fight against multiple attackers and defend against weapons.

Learn to jump, kick, strike, block, punch and smash.

There’s also the chance to meet new people and have some fun too. TaeKwon-Do in Banstead is for all people of all ages from 4 years old upwards, there are classes for different age groups and appropriate lessons too.

ITF SparringLet me tell you when someone is trying to kick you in the head there is absolutely no opportunity for you to feel bored! There are many other aspects too and a strong moral & philosophical culture.

It’s well worth coming along to check it out and I guarantee you won’t be bored.

Class times are:

Wednesdays
6 – 6:30pm – Tiny TKD’ers (4-6 yrs)
6:30 – 7:30pm – Junior TaeKwon-Do (7-11yrs)
7:30 – 9pm – Senior TaeKwon-Do (12yrs +)

Fridays
7 – 8:30pm Jnr & Snr TaeKwon-do

Relieve your boredom, lift yourself out of that rut, start something new, feel the fear, dig deep, start feeling entertained and start achieving great things.
