Kettlebell Workshop News

Just a quick post to say the Level 1 Kettlebell workshop I hosted down in Redhill at the Extreme Fighters MMA Gym on January 22nd went down well and from everyone’s point of view was a great success. The Level 1 workshop consists of 3 hours of getting to grips with the safe technique of the basic kettlebell fundamental lifts, however this particular date was attended by traditional and mixed martial artists so I kept this in mind when dishing out drills.
It was a great afternoon with lots of jokes, fun and laughter and of course lots and lots of kettlebell lifting reps.
There were 10 attendees from a mixture of TaeKwon-Do Schools, Mr Dennis, Mr Andie Adolph from Spirit TKD and Mr Steven Elliot and some fighters from Extreme MMA.
This workshop covered:
- Kettlebell design differences, pros and cons
- Double handed swing
- Single handed swing
- Hand to hand swing
- Clean
- Overhead Lockout
- Military press
- Push Press
- Working for Reps
- Working for Time
- When to tense and when to relax
- Density training
- Ladders
- Finishing with an 8 minute kettlebell complex routine.
- Fun and jokes
Mr Adolph from Spirit TKD travelled down from Hertfordshire with a TKD student to reap the benefits of this Kettlebell training workshop and I am pleased to say they found the afternoon very worthwhile and went away with some excellent new knowledge:
“Thanks for a great afternoon. The tuition was excellent and gave a good insight in how to use KB’s properly. I’m certainly finding out which parts of my body have been worked. Thanks again James, and I look forward to attending the next workshop.” – Andie Adolph from Spirit TKD, Hertfordshire
Thanks to Mr Dennis and Mr Elliot for allowing me to use the Redhill Extreme Fighters MMA Gym as the training location.
