Mark Boydell Blackbelt Academies Awards Night

WOW, What a great time we had with some fantastic friends back where I started TaeKwon-Do, Montrose in Scotland.
Mr Boydell, 4th Degree, is a good friend of mine. We trained TaeKwon-Do through the old ’90’s in Montrose, Scotland, our instructor was Mr McNairn, 6th Degree. Mr Boydell, and his wife Mrs Ngaire Boydell, 2nd Degree, are full time professional instructors and run several successful TaeKwon-Do schools.
My wife & I were very happy to be invited to attend his annual awards night on February 18th. It’s a real honor to be asked and we gladly packed our bags and jetted up to Aberdeen. I also had great pleasure in being asked to present awards to many of Mr Boydells’ students.
I extend thanks to Mark and Ngaire Boydell for inviting us & showing us great hospitality & ensuring we had no need for cabs or hire cars.
TaeKwon-Do has been a great way for me to make lasting friendships, and I hope it can be for you too.
The Awards for 2010
Guests: Master Wallace (7th Degree), Mrs Wallace (2nd Degree) (Master Wallace Blackbelt Academy), Me and my wife Nicky. Pretty cool.
This awards night was for participation during 2010, there were 174 attendees from 3 Taekwon-Do schools:
The David McNairn Blackbelt Academy – Mr McNairn 6th Degree
Mark Boydell Blackbelt Academies – Mr Boydell 4th Degree, Mrs Boydell 2nd Degree
Forfar School of TaeKwon-Do – Mr Ingram 2nd Degree
I was honoured to have been asked to present awards to some of the students: I was first up at the proceedings and I’ll admit to feeling a little nervous, I didn’t want to drop one of the wonderful, breakable, awards to which I held on to very tight. I was a pleasure to hand over the awards to students that had obviously worked very hard all year to earn them.
Mr & Mrs Boydell had put a huge amount of effort in organising this event and it ran extremely well, everyone was catered for, the band were excellent and very funny indeed, everyone had a great time, the location was superb, the hotel was wonderful, the company was fantastically friendly, and, for me it was a great opportunity to talk with Master Wallace and remember old times training with Mr Boydell, Mrs Boydell, Mr Ingram, and being taught by Mr McNairn. Good memories I might add, even the ones where fat lips were involved.

Mr Boydell has a page on his web site with photographs and awards winners from the night, you should check it out.

Thanks again to Mrs and Mrs Boydell for their kind invitation, I hope we can do it again soon and if we have similar activities down here you’re coming!
