Competition: 2024 TKD Impact Open Champs

Updated: Jul 15, 2024

June 30th 2024 saw a team of 17 Banstead TKD students attend the TaeKwon-Do Impact annual Championships. The team consisted of:

  • 3 teenagers

  • 3 adults

  • 11 juniors

...and that was across all grade levels from Yellow belt beginners to Blackbelt experienced competitors. I was an official for the day and was grateful to be given the job of Jury President on Ring 4, it's a job I feel I can do well.

Thank you to the organisers

TaeKwon-Do Impact is the governing body we are members of and

the main organisers of the competitions are Grandmaster Donato Nardizzi and Mr Howard Mayes. Thank you both for providing an opportunity for all students to demonstrate their skills and develop further through the struggles of a tournament.

Thank you to all the officials

All the umpires, refs, and other officials deserve a big thank you because without Blackbelts giving their full day to the competition there is no way the event can exist.

I was a Jury President, the leader of a ring, and I would like to thank all the flag umpires and the centre refs for working so hard for so long and doing such a great job.

Congratulations to all Competitors

Ethan, Dil, Edie, Billy, Hadeel - awesome group

Well done to all the competitors on the day, and especially to those from Banstead. All reports say the Banstead representatives behaved very well, following the TENETS of TaeKwon-Do and showing real courtesy naturally.

I am very proud as an instructor to see our students take part and try their hardest in all their events, taking part in and training for competitions is an effective way of goal setting and working towards improving skill sets and making progress in TaeKwon-Do.

Banstead TKD: 4th out of 27 clubs - Excellent result

It's great to know that from 17 competitors (well 16 really, because Edie was teamed up with Cambridge TKD for the event) we ranked so highly among so many other clubs, many of which have specialist aspects to their training.

We won:

  1. 6 (7 if we count Edie) Gold medals

  2. 5 Silver medals

  3. 7 Bronze medals
